May 24 been a whileIt's been a while since I've posted here, have moved over to myspace.
and, hmmm, ...yeah nothing to post so i'll just leave...
May 11 On the edge of my seatSo Town took it 2-2 (agg. 5-4) against Grays last night, meaning the Shaymen are Leicester bound for the playoff's final. I'm a tad leary of the opposition. Hereford are a relatively strong side, as their 2nd place finishing suggests, and Morecambe are at least even with Halifax. However, it hasn't been our technical skill that got us this far, but rather our ability to play well as a team. Let's not forget what Greece did in '04.
C'MON SHAYMEN! May 09 Sven has gone bonkers, lets hope it works outBig news today, Sven announced the 23 provisional members of the world cup squad. Touch surprised by the exclusion of Wright-Philips and a few others, but the biggest shock will be the call up given to Theo Walcott.
It's nice to see Eriksson stepping out on a limp, assuming he's going with his gut feeling and not because he couldn't be bothered. Walcott is a rather untypical sort of selection for SGE to make. Granted he did give Rooney an early call up, but he was a proven commodity in the Everton squad, and debuted in a Aussie friendly. Theo's being thrown into the thick of it, without any Arsenal first team matches under his belt - best wishes mate.
SGE was frank and straightforward in explaining his selection. Perhaps he's feeling more comfortable in the role of England manager knowing that his future is already set. Whatever the thoughts and emotions behind it, he's come straight out and admitted he's never watched a Theo play a competitive match and picked him on a whim of feeling just this morning.
Winging it - SGE's finally figured out what it takes to be the England manager. May 05 Farewell to HighburyHere's hoping Arsenal can snag a win at home against Barcelona, and as much as I like Wigan I kinda hope they win that one too. You can say what you like about Arsene's Arsenal, but that stadium is absolutely magnificiant. Like something out of Gotham City, but a tad cheerier.
If I lived in that corner of N. London I wouldn't have any reservations about supporting the Gunners on the strength of their stadia alone. Love Highbury, and the new Emirates is looking fantastic (better than wembley *ahem*) and I'm tickled pink by the tasteful life planned for Highbury after retirement from football. It will make some beautiful housing and a beautiful garden. May 02 well, it weren't that badOverall it was a very nice weekend. However, two points do stick to the brain. 1) Town lost at home to Canvey Island - thus losing our unbeaten home record on the last game of the season. 2)Rooney busted another one of of his metatarsals. Unless Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Owen and Joe Cole can drive the team England hasn't got a chance this summer.
Now, I'm off to sleep. May 01 What a Week-endmore to follow later. As for now I'm off to work to drown my sorrows under the waves of apathy. :) |
