July 24 i fixed it (sort of)So my car radio wasn't working, had a sneeking suspiscion that it wasn't actually the wiring but the radio unit itself. I took it out and put the alpine from the old golf in. Voila! It works, and sounds pretty stinkin good too. Unfortunately I don't think I can hook it up to the disc changer in the trunk, dang.
Nevermind, this will do.
Now I need to work on burning some cds for the trip up to the district convention.
Shortlist for the playlists: Keane, Gnarls Barkley, Hard-Fi, Richard Ashcroft, James Blunt, Oasis, and maybe some Zeppelin to shake things up a bit. Picked her up today from minneapolis. She's not perfect but i like her.
112k miles, black - bit of minor rust, radio doesn't work but can probably be fixed - has 6 disc cd changer (yippie!), only a 4 banger 2.0 - but it's got some get-up-and-go. ummm, power sunroof, the key doesn't always work, first gear is awfully close to 3rd gear, and the interior is filthy.
This could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. July 16 PassatWould you buy a Passat? Specifically a 96 passat gls with roughly 110k miles on it? I hope not! coz then i couldn't if you did, so you won't and i will, maybe.
I think i would still prefer a Golf - and i'd probably prefer the vr6 if i was to get a passat, but beggars can't be choosers, and i'm fairly poor/lower middle class anyway, so i've got a little selection, but not too much. So i'll buy it, maybe. July 14 world perspective of the headbuttsee how people around the world perceive zidane's famous headbutt WATCH THEM HERE "for a lonely soul you're having such a fine time"The first Keane album, Hopes and Fears, kicked me over with it's subtle grandeur. Such a beautiful album, instantly tucked away in my top 20.
But this one here, Under the Iron Sea, this one has blown my brains out. A soothing epic wave of tender sounds. I never really notice it, but when i think about the fact that they don't use guitars i'm amazed by the fullness of the sound. This is Radiohead meets Coldplay fronted by Freddie Mercury. Picked up their dvd Strangers and now that i understand more about where they're coming from, the insecurities, desperation, hopes and optimism that have been bundled into each song - it's like "yeah, that's my band. hit the nail right on the head."
Under the Iron Sea looks likely to be my album of 2006 - even better than Dickie Ashcroft's Keys to the World.
July 10 aint no shamewhat's everybody talking about, there's nothing shameful about zidane's headbutting materazzi. maybe not the nicest thing to do, but let's face it, he probably had it coming.
Plus it looked really cool. I don't know why footballers always feel a need to headbutt people, whatever happened to throwing punches? Or you could do rooney and step on the fella's jewels - now that's funny. So that's the top 3 2006 world cup moments:
1. zidane dropping materazzi with a headbutt
2. rooney ending the family line of some portugese fella
3. joe cole's goal
and c. ronaldo crying was pretty good too... July 09 world cup blah blah blahSo this is what the world cup feels like, eh? Never in my life have I been so underwhelmed. Chalk it up to a lack of sleep, american commentary, and watching games on my own. I just couldn't be bothered with it this year. england played dismally up until the quater finals, where we lost to Portugal, on penalties, again.
I guess I don't care who wins what, but in a small way I'm cheering on france.
Whatever,....i'm bored even writing about it .... just can't even. ... yeah....*yawn* .......
On the brigther side: am working up a few projects with my beloved halifax town. If any thing substantial came of this I would be over the moon happy-happy-happy. This is sad and pathetic, but it's what you do when you don't have a girlfriend and everything on tv is crap. July 02 Becks ResignsBecks has resigned as england captain today. Despite it being the absolute right, and likely overdue, decision it's still sad. Maybe he's not always the most gifted of players, but he has that sincerity that makes you forgive his ridiculousness.
